Happy Australia Day Wherever you are!!!

Hi all. Don't know what you'll be doing, but my Australia Day will NOT include tinnies, test cricket or karaoke. Instead we will celebrate with some friends who live at Samford (a little bit out in the country), probably have some meat on the barbie and lots of champagne (not too much as I have my new lovelies arriving on Tues). Wherever you are, have a good one, and remember how lucky we are to be Australian, or conversely, how silly you are not to be!! Take it easy.

  1. Hey, I forgot this day but will celebrate by this post to you.

One of my best friends ever(he has passed on having committed suicide in Canberra) had a diplomatic post in Ottawa while I was there. I remember him going out real early in the morning on this day, or maybe some other day called anzac day, anyway, he would go out and come back all red cheeked and just a bit drunk. He was a white looking aboriginal and in fact had been lifted from his parents at a very early age and placed in a white family. I thought this a cruel thing. He was fifty four when he died. My age now. He had been drinking.

  3. Hi POD don't worry, you haven't missed it at all!
As we are hours ahead of you (and I put my post up early..night before) you can still celebrate. Australia day is Monday the 26th Jan. This year it also coincides with Chinese New Year..lots of reasons to celebrate!
